From Abbyarts:

September 02, 2009 - Will at the campground said no one had made site requests so he is assigning them; if anyone wants to be near the river, pond, shade, bathroom they should call him SOON.

Okay, here's the skinny everyone. I'm at Pagosa Riverside Campground now and its lovely. "This is the place." There are sites right along the river and others a bit further back, all are very nice with picnic tables and firepits in cottonwood shade trees, and below the highway so no road noise to speak of. There's a covered social area up at the office, not huge but they would also open up the laundry room area if weather got real bad. There's a small store, ice, firewood. clean bathrooms (at least the ladies!)

Poop scoop bags and dump areas for dogs and lots of nice space to walk them. There's a small pond with paddleboats and a game room (didn't see inside).

Rates for us are $28- for water/electric down from the regular $33- and $30- for water/electric/sewer down from $36. There's also an above ground swimming pool, dump station and propane.

Town of Pagosa Springs is 2m. west and that's where my favorite mineral hot springs are - numerous pools of varying temps. There's a brewpub which I have not yet sampled but that does count as one of Mark and my favorite sports. Pagosa Outside puts rafting trips on the San Juan right from this campground, by Sept that will depend on water level. Ryan and Toby are the owners, phone is 970-264-4202. They also run mountain bike tours. Jeep rentals are available. Wolf Creek Pass, one of Colorado's most beautiful and part of the Continental Divide, is about 22 miles east of here along hwy 160. See if you can call the newspaper, Pagosa Sun, which puts out the official visitors guide and see if they'll send you one.

Julie and Ron own this campground and Will and Marilyn are the managers; call 888-785-3234 to make your reservations. I've met 3 of the 4 of them and they are great, helpful folks who are looking forward to our stay. Pagosa's Colorfest is the w/e before we're here so the fall colors should still be glorious for us!

The map on RVparkreviews is incorrect, the campground is east of Pagosa on the north side of hwy 160. You may find it helpful to ask that a campground brochure be sent to you as it has both campground map with the various sites, and an area map. I have more tiny tidbits to share with you but this will get you all salivating!
